Could You Take a Delta-8 Product Along with a CBD Product? – Wellicy

BLOG

A lot of people who have been taking CBD for a while are beginning to show an interest in delta 8, which is a minor, gently psychoactive cannabinoid that is also present in the hemp plant.

Unlike CBD, delta 8 will get you high; however, it is legal as long as the final product contains no more than 0.3% delta-9 THC by volume.

Delta 8 is a cannabinoid, it supports the endocannabinoid system along with all of the other cannabinoids native to the cannabis genus, which consists of both hemp and marijuana.

Now, if you are looking to incorporate delta 8 into your routine, can you safely do so if you are already taking CBD daily?

Let’s take a look.

Yes, You Can

You can certainly take CBD and delta 8 together.

In fact, you’re technically doing this whenever you consume hemp in the form of raw flower, dabs or full spectrum hemp extract

All of these products contain CBD and potentially delta 8 as they naturally occur in hemp.

Of course the levels will be extremely low due to delta-8 occurring in small levels naturally or may be lacking in all depending on the strain.

In the hemp plant, about 12 to 18 percent of the plant’s chemical composition is CBD.

Then, there’s only about 0.1 percent delta 8.

This means that when you consume hemp in one of the forms listed above, you’re only consuming a very low amount, if any of delta 8 compared to CBD.

Meanwhile, the market now has delta 8 distillates, which allow us to consume extremely high doses of delta 8 comparatively, which also make these products affordable.

These distillates are blended with other ingredients to produce familiar delivery methods like gummies, tinctures and vape oils.

So, what does this mean to those who wish to combine delta 8 products along with CBD products?

At the end of the day, you can take delta 8 and CBD together, as there are no known negative interactions.

It’s also legal to take both, so you can easily purchase both because they are both hemp derivatives, which have been legal since the Farm Bill was passed in 2018.

Which states all hemp derived cannabinoids, isomers, and derivatives are legal as long as the final product contains less than 0.3% delta-9 THC.

Tips for Taking Delta-8 and CBD Together

If you want to get the most out of combining both cannabinoids, here are some helpful tips and considerations for doing so.

#1: Consider Why You’re Taking Each Cannabinoid

It’s always good to ask yourself why you want to take these two cannabinoids in the first place.

Are you trying to find relief for something specific?

Are you going through a stressful time and desire some natural relief?

Or, have you just read up on the importance of the endocannabinoid system, and want to support it as best as you can?

All of these reasons are equally valid, but knowing why you’re taking each can help you better customize your routine based on your personal goals and needs.

#2: Consider the Milligram Strength of Each

The milligram strength of each product will determine how potent your overall cannabinoid experience is.

Neither cannabinoid is considered toxic to the human body, but that doesn’t mean that exceptionally high doses of both don’t have the potential to result in an unwanted experience.

CBD is non-psychoactive, but extraordinarily high doses can make you feel sleepy.

Delta-8 is psychoactive, and very high doses can make you feel a bit out of it as it will make you intoxicated.

Before combining the two together, consider how much you should take of each based on the milligram strength of each formula, and of course your personal needs.

#3: Consider the Delivery Method of Each

The delivery method of each product also makes a big impact.

Each delivery method absorbs at its own pace, meaning that, for example, while vapes can peak within minutes, edibles can take over 90 minutes to take effect.

Therefore, consider the delivery method of each so that you know what to expect in terms of how each one feels, and when it begins to peak in the system.

#3: Make Sure Both are High in Quality

It’s of exceptional importance that both your delta 8 and CBD products are of a high quality.

Due to a lack of regulations from the FDA in the hemp industry, low-quality products can slip onto the market that are made with subpar manufacturing practices, resulting in disappointing results.

Check for lab reports from the companies to ensure that you’re getting good-quality and more important legal products, or else you’ll just be wasting your time and money and losing out on that which cannabinoids can offer.

#4: Consider Speaking to Your Doctor Beforehand

We always recommend that our customers speak to a doctor before starting any kind of new wellness routine, including ones that involve the use of hemp and hemp compounds.

Your medical history and current medications may play a role in developing a routine that’s safe, ideal for your needs, and most capable of delivering effective results.

#5: Timing Makes a Difference

Bear in mind that when you take your doses of both CBD and delta 8 plays a role.

Taking them both at exactly the same time, in the same delivery method, will allow both the CBD and delta 8 to peak at the same time.

But, for instance, taking a delta 8 edible in the morning and a CBD vape later in the afternoon can produce a unique experience in which the delta 8 potentially energizes you during the day, while the CBD helps calm you down when you’re home from a long day at work.

#5: Other Products You’ve Taken Play a Role

Remember that CBD and delta-8 might be just two of several products that you take daily for particular effects.

For instance, we know that caffeine interacts with cannabinoids in a unique way thanks to synergistic properties, where cannabinoids may take the edge off caffeine while helping its stimulating effects last for a longer period of time.

Similarly, drinking alcohol while taking both CBD and delta 8 can result in a totally different kind of experience that may or may not be enjoyable depending on your unique body chemistry, and tolerance to all of the substances above.

So, when thinking about combining these two products together, consider what else you’re taking daily.

If you have an undesirable experience when putting the two cannabinoids together, there’s always a chance that something else is to blame.
